However, there is a small inadvertence between what Microsoft promises and what it actually delivers. And since Microsoft does not yet support Linux with Silverlight, the wallpapers and the open source operating system simply do not mix. The new content offered by the Redmond company is centered around the visual style associated with Silverlight, Microsoft's "cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web."Īccording to the Redmond company, the new Silverlight wallpapers support the following operating systems: Windows 2000 Windows Server 2003 Windows Vista Windows XP and, since the actual plug-in is cross platform, then so are the background images, also offered for Apple Mac OS X. New imagery is available for download straight from Microsoft, designed to integrate seamlessly with the desktop real estate space on your copy of Windows Vista.
